Cycling through messages #2

Not an urgent issue, and I may just not be understanding the readme on configuration properly, but how can I cycle through the messages faster? it seems to display the most recent 3 or so messages and displays each one for around a minute. Also, would it be possible to display the most recent 3-5 messages?
