At the very least, the special structure of J should be documented. In principle, it might be nice to define a special

struct JMatrix{T} <: AbstractMatrix{T}
    m::Int
end

type to represent this matrix, since it requires zero storage and has special algorithms for multiplication, inversion, etcetera.
