From Patrick's youtube video - need a parse_float like parse_int.

I haven't looked at the source yet since I haven't had the chance, but what does parse_int() do that integer() doesn't? I'm wondering if the right answer is to remove parse_int() and use the String dispatch of the casting functions instead.

That is reasonable too. Just opened the issue so that we take the decision.

parse_int also lets you specify a base.

And a target integer type.
