It seems that testing should be a category of tools that often make sense in the context of platforms. Is there a reason why testing as a category isn't present?

Mostly I am interested to find a model that reflects the tooling space as it is today. Testing to me seems like something that's widely believed to be indispensable, so not even listing that seems like an important aspect of what developers are doing today is not covered by the model.
