For example, if I want to get the memory size, I want to call sysinfo::memory::total().

If I call

let sys = System::all(); 
sys.refresh_memory(); 
let memory = sys.total_memory()

It won't refresh other information and will be quicker than new_all()?

That's the thing with a crate providing the same API for multiple systems: I need to make choices. On linux it's pretty easy to retrieve the system memory and I could turn it into a function. For FreeBSD for example, it requires to first retrieve a "mib" value that will then be used to actually retrieve the information. So I could make it so that I get this information every time you want the memory, but then it would have a cost every time you retrieve memory. So instead, I retrieve this "mib" when you instantiate System and then never again.

Yes. new_all is pretty slow in comparison because it refreshes also all processes.
