Querying the number of captures tagged with each species for the Species tool takes a long time in production (see Greenstand/treetracker-admin-api#573).

Currently, this query is triggered each time the user switches to either the Verify or Species tool.
These counts are not visible in the Verify tool and the queries often block the more important capture queries, making the tool feel unresponsive.
