Problem Description

The play/pause button in the center of the video player on 0.22 beta is way too big for desktop screens. It should be smaller.

I would go further and suggest removing it, as it is not useful. It can be a minor hindrance when analyzing a frame, and a big one when taking a screenshot.

@LeoNoBit You can disable Display Play Button In Video Player under Player Settings.

It's nice you can turn it off but for the sake of sane defaults it should be smaller, it is enormous

how can i return to old interface? there are an option? 0.22 is huge

No you can't. You can disable it in the settings, but returning to the old UI is not possible.

You can try to work this out, but as stated here this is nothing the team is interested in.

gives me errors when i untoggle it. something like "ERROR, UNPLAYABLE". Toggling it back on makes video playable.

edit: stopped giving me errors while i was writing a bug report about it lol

disabling this: Display Play Button In Video Player, works though. try it! If it spouts error, toggle/untoggle it like i did!

Whomever thought these were a worthwhile addition to Freetube needs to be slapped.

we have 1440p and 4k now... just press that button lol

There's already an option to remove it but it shouldn't be this big. It should be similar to the official desktop Youtube experience. For some reason it feels like the size it would be for a PIP window. I know they moved to shaka-player but I have no idea why shaka-player would have a desktop play button this huge.

If removing this is not an option, maybe disabled should be the default. I had to search for the option after reading it in the issues. There will be lot of people who are new and don't know it can be disabled and will stop using the app by frustration.

Alternatively it could fade out after a second, when clicking pause.

We shouldn't compromise like this. It should be smaller no matter what. It doesn't look right on a desktop. Not sure why it was made so big in the first place. It feels like this is the first time the player was used for desktops.

To me, this is not a compromise, but a solution. The problem is, that the icon stays big in pause mode and I cannot look whats behind it (when analyzing a scene or moment). So the request has practical reasons. Making the icon smaller doesn't solve "my issue". It is annoying at any size and I don't know any other desktop player that does that.

yep its definitely too big. i disabled the icon for now.
