We need a content generator to convert the contents of this repo into a website.

I'm pretty much ok with whatever. I'd like to write content in markdown, and contain all additional files like images and whatnot in a directory for each post. I heard someone wanted hugo. I don't know if hugo could do that, but it probably can. What would other people like?

I've heard good things about netlify, mainly from one of its founders: https://github.com/integrations/netlify I think something with fewer moving parts is better.

I like the idea of Hugo because it really means we could pick a theme and then focus on writing the content (in markdown?), netlify looks like more of an end-to-end delivery system with built-in CDN and deployment tools. There is a cost involved, but it says "free for open source projects" ... not sure what that means though or how they make that determination.
It also looks more open ended because it says that we would still need to generate all front-end code, which means we may still need something like Hugo behind it.
I'm not opposed to netlify, but I don't know enough about it to have much of an opinion one way or another.
Anybody else have some experience with either tool?
I submitted a PR to fix a small issue in Hugo a few months back and the codebase is pretty simple to understand, but I've actually never used it to generate a website.
