Action Performed:

  1. Open a 1-1 report with a user that has a username
  2. In the report header, hover over username - notice it displays username in tooltip
  3. Now hover over user avatar - notice it doesn't display username in tooltip
  4. Also notice default avatars in tooltips are different

Expected Result:

The user details tooltip should show username in avatar & if default avatar, avatars should be the same

Actual Result:

There is no username in user details tooltip & for default avatars, avatars are different

Workaround:

Can the user still use Expensify without this being fixed? Have you informed them of the workaround?

Proposal

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

User name show shown in new user details tooltip

What is the root cause of that problem?

We're using function getAccountIDForLogin to get the accountId from login email.

function getAccountIDForLogin(login) {
    return lodashGet(allPersonalDetails, [login, 'accountID'], '');
}

Since the login was email, and allPersonalDetails are object with key are accountId, this function will return empty, which caused the issue.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

We should update this function to something like this:

// we can also use lodash for safety value
function getAccountIDForLogin(login) {
    return Object.values(allPersonalDetails).find((vl) => vl.login === login).accountId;
}

What alternative solutions did you explore? (Optional)
