Where is said "options validation code"? I might try to have a look at it.

Be my guest. When the picker is initialized or the options are changed there's a bunch of type checking and other validation. As I tried to make it more robust it just got uglier. Sonar Cloud agrees. My goal with that card was to review what was being done and how to improve it.
