Flashing the T5 GUI and OS firmware

The G-code screen uses text-entry functions which are only available in recent versions of the T5 GUI/OS firmware (also refered to as the touchscreen's core firmware).
This document will guide you through the update process (which is almost similar to the regular flashing process).
These files are not distributed in the normal firmware archive because flashing them is more risky. A failed flash of these files could brick your touchscreen.
Be very careful not cutting power from the printer during the flashing procedure!
Please only flash these files if you're running an older version and you want to use the G-code screen.
- Download the
DWIN_SET.tar.gz
archive from the latest release. - Extract the content of the archive. You should now have a folder called
DWIN_SET
, which we'll use later. - Download the two
.BIN
files available here and place them inside theDWIN_SET
folder.
- Start by formatting your micro SD card. Select FAT32 for the file system and 4096 bytes sector size (these parameters are strictly required for the procedure to work).
- Copy the
DWIN_SET
folder from the archive you previously downloaded (which now contains the two extra.BIN
files) to the root of your micro SD card. - Unmount and unplug your micro SD card.
- Turn off and unplug your printer (both power and USB).
- You will need to access the micro SD slot on the back of the touchscreen (not the one that could be on your mainboard). If necessary, open the printer to be able to access this slot.
- Insert the micro SD card into the slot.
- Plug the printer's power cable back (and only the power cable) and turn the printer on.
- After a few second, the screen's background will turn blue and the flashing procedure will begin.
- Do not cut power to the printer while the flashing procedure is running!
- When the procedure ends, you will be back on the page with a blue background. There will be an END message at the top and you'll be presented with a summary of what was flashed.
- At this point, you can turn your printer back off, remove the micro SD card from the touchscreen and reassemble your printer if you had to disassemble it previously.
Your touchscreen's core firmware is now up-to-date.
