Description

Hey Team.

I was recently re-writing a post and came across a bug. I found a temporary workaround, but the bug should probably be fixed at some point.

Basically if you use the Author block and turn on the Show Avatar toggle, it will add the photo to the author name, but with a giant space between them.

I tried adjusting the orientation from center to left and it looked even weirder. The gap was a bit smaller but then the byline "written by" was not aligned with my name below it.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Install either https://wordpress.org/plugins/basic-user-avatars/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-local-avatars/ (it happened to me with both).
  2. Add a profile photo in the user section.
  3. Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Single Posts.
  4. Add the Author block.
  5. Toggle Show Avatar on.
  6. Save and go to a random post to see the bug.
