@Barny-6 this topic is very much focused on Employability, could you give us some pointers so that it's more clear what kind of content is expected.

For the Job Description content, we need something that talks about:

  • Where to find job descriptions and the various strengths of each
  • How to identify if the job description is a suitable level for you
  • How to identify if the job description is a suitable technical fit for you
  • How to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a job description

This involves knowing:

  • What is expected of different job titles (i.e. FE Vs FS Vs PM etc.)
  • How to identify the core requirements vs extra requirements on a JD
  • How to spot red Flags

I feel confident that I know a lot of this but I don't have any resources per see. I will look for some and am happy to review any that are found.

Some classic points that come up when I run the session:

  • Women tend to apply only when they hit a significantly higher proportion of skills listed in a JD than men. From experience I believe this same phenomenon applies throughout our community.
  • Many don't seem to understand quite how much they will be expected to learn on the job and believe that they need to know everything before applying
  • Many don't seem to understand the role of a junior and how they fit into the wider team
