I attempted to make #317 work as a GeoHub import template script, FWIW. That is, it is a scheduled job, but it can also be used as a template script by customizing the parameters.

I suppose we have a lot of experience with importing to Esri as well. It's unfortunately pretty difficult to manage dtypes with esri imports in a general way, as we found out many times.
