This project is looking for collaborators interested in biosensor systems for the detection of pathogens in environmental waters using lab-on-chip techniques.
Contact:Faith Mangwanya Organisation: Cambridge Graphene Centre, Department of Engineering, Like to learn: I am interested in learning how to design biological assays. What I can teach: I have some knowledge in microfluidic chip design as well as electronics and instrumentation as well as sensor development.

Hi Faith,
I think we'd be able to help each other out. I'm fairly experienced in bacterial binding assays, and in particular using proteins or carbohydrates to demonstrate interaction with bacterial components [disclaimer -- limited hands-on experience with whole bacteria on actual biosensors (they might clog our expensive lab equipment)]
Best wishes,
Devon ([email protected])
Hi Both,
This project sounds like what WaterScope team fit nicely. WaterScope (www.waterscope.org) is a social start-up company based in Cambridge. We are designing a new water testing kit for bacteria contamination in water. Our current method requires us to collect water, filter the water, and image the bacteria with our 3D printed microscope during incubation. One thing we have been thinking of doing is to have a system collecting bacteria sample continuously from the stream and potentially use the bacteria to image them in real-time. Wondering whether we can expand on the existing technology?
