Verify: 'Specify a year' filter option selects the wrong data

The 'When' filter on selects instead on 'Field record date'.

Example (verifying Odonata) where Date of record input (which should match values in grid column 'Submitted on') is selected and 'Specify a year' is set to equals 2018:

I think this used to work as expected some years back.
If the 'date range' option (e.g. 01/01/2018 - 31/12/2018) is used instead then the results are as expected, so it really seems to be a problem with the 'Specify a year' filter option.

Also, the year selected is not shown on the 'When' filter button after the selection popup is closed, whereas if a date range is set then the date range is shown correctly:
