In early development it has been useful to have full access for testing. For our initial release we should lock down our visibility.

Some progress made in commit ffbde66
It may be difficult to make all internals "internal" due to the fact that they need to be accessed in quotations. However, users will now at least get a compiler warning if they touch what they shouldn't.
