How Should I Approach Upgrading EPAC to Version 10.7.1 in my Environment?

I currently have an older version of Enterprise Policy As Code in our environment and are looking to upgrade to version 10.7.1. We understand that this upgrade involves several schema changes and are seeking guidance on the best approach to implement these changes.

Could anyone provide us with:

• A detailed list of the required schema changes for the upgrade.

• Recommendations on the best practices for testing these changes, considering we only have one tenant and want to avoid testing in our production environment.

Any guidelines or resources you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you are running a version prior to v10 we have documented all the changes required to the global-settings.jsonc file here -> https://azure.github.io/enterprise-azure-policy-as-code/start-changes/#breaking-changes-in-v1000

In terms of testing you shouldn't have to make many changes to supporting files i.e. definitions/assignments - but what I have done in the past is to run the Build-DeploymentPlans locally to identify any changes. There may be changes to some metadata as well when you initially upgrade.
