Coblocks Carousel - Unable to Edit Captions with Full Scroll block type

Quick summary

In the Coblocks Carousel Block, the user is unable to update the caption for images that do not appear in the editor preview. It is possible to edit the images within the media gallery selection screen, but this only updates the caption for the image in the Media Library and not the live site.

The only way to update the captions for images that do not appear in the editor preview is to completely delete the Carousel Block and make a new one.

Steps to reproduce

1. Upload at least 3 images to a site, and give captions to each.
2. Insert a Carousel Block with these images.
3. Click on Media Library, then Edit Gallery.
4. Click on an image caption to update it.
5. Click on Update Gallery.

What you expected to happen

The image caption is not updated.

The image caption should be updated.

The workaround as noted above is to delete the Carousel block and then reinsert it.

@masperber Hey! As I mentioned in #71503 I was not able to replicate the issue on my test site, can you please re-check with other images with solid color background to be sure (other than white color background)? Thanks! 🙇‍♂️

Hi @vajrasar !

There seem to have been some changes to CoBlocks since my initial report. Now, only the first image's caption can be edited. Any other images will use the caption assigned to the image in the media library.

In addition, attempting to remove the Carousel block will now cause the editor to crash.

Here is an example, with T23 theme installed:

• It seems like this issue continues to evolve!
• In my tests, I first inserted a Carousel Block > Full Scroll - this block did not let me edit captions in the editor at all. Removing this block caused no issues.

• If I instead choose any of the other 3 options (Thumbnails, Full Autoplay, or Lightbox), I'm able to edit captions without issue, but removing the block triggers an editor error.
• It appears this reflects this issue: Coblocks > Carousel: Editor breaks when changing settings or deleting the block #71777

I'm still able to replicate this issue with the "Full Scroll Carousel" in CoBlocks. As this is replicable outside of Dotcom, this is a Coblocks issue.
