Discussion on block theme

WordPress supports block themes from version 5.9 as part of full site editing. While WordPress continues to support classic themes, block themes are built to improve scalability and performance and are considered future.

IMO current themes have reached certain level of maturity with only 14 feature requests open. 51 enhancements requests are open, most of being visual changes will require redo when sooner than later we change to block theme. Already adding effort to do temporary CSS changes.

Options are, which is more of a developer choice:

• Option 1: Converting classic theme to block theme
• Option 2: Use a starter template with modern workflow, e.g. Sage

Yes @yogeshbeniwal you have said it right, Newspack should also be converted to Block Theme? What do you say?

Where can progress on this be tracked?
Or is there a roadmap for this?
