I looked at that issue in #24083, and took a different approach there. I suppose your approach is simpler though :)
Great news! One last step: head over to your WordPress.com diff, D79957-code, and deploy it. Thank you! |

It's not at all pseudorandom. It hashes the menu title and slug. |
Right, I took that from what was said in https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/40927#comment:40, but it's not pseudoramdom at all, just a hash. Anyway, I don't think we should have logic/tests that expects a certain menu position hash given that WordPress doesn't expose it in any way and should be considered as unreliable/indeterminate. |
Thank you all for working on this! 🙇 |
* Admin menu: Avoid usage of pseudorandom numbers in tests

Changes proposed in this Pull Request:
WordPress 6.0 will change how menus are positioned when there is a collision between items that are supposed to be in the same position: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/40927
In such cases, WordPress generates a pseudorandom number to be used as the position key in order to guarantee there are no duplicated keys. However, the logic for generating that number has changed in WordPress 6.0.
We had a couple of tests that relied on such number, so to avoid failures in these tests in WordPress 6.0 this PR adapts their implementation to don't rely in it.
