How to mention another user

My team and I are using Artalk integration in wiki.js. We see the Mentions tab in the list of comments of the sidebar, but we cannot find how to mention another user in the comments. We tried using the typical @username, @email, but none of the variations we could think of worked.

Are direct user mentions supported at all? If so, how can we make them?
