Install on MAC HighSierra 10.13.6 fails - fatal error: 'filesystem' file not found = please help

Hello Gyus,

A Lot of MACs are today runs with latest HighSierra 10.13.6 (because of CUDA was supported until this). My imac 27" is from late 2013 (3.5Ghz i7, 32GB RAM, 4GB GPU, 3TB). I tried weeks to get SDRpp run on my MAC without success.

I installed all dependencies via MacPorts. This was ok. Now i cloned the GitHub repo to local, then make. Below the complete output. Error sys FILESYSTEM cant be found? I have no clue what can be wrong here, can someone help me please?

"filesystem" is a relatively new standard library in C++ and might not be supported on your system yet. SDR++ has an internal replacement for this library but it needs to be enabled manually. Append -DOPT_OVERRIDE_STD_FILESYSTEM=ON to your CMake command and try building again.

Thanks for pointing out, it was the issue here! You made my day!!!!!! Got it run successfully under HighSierra now which was not working via MACPORTS port yet! So below the steps to compile from source/install steps for MACos under HighSierra:

1. (At first you need to install MACPORTS on HighSierra to fullfill all SDRpp dependencies) see https://www.macports.org/install.php and got it run
2. (Install dependencies) sudo port install cmake volk glew glfw airspy airspyhf hackrf rtl-sdr soapysdr libiio libad9361-iio rtaudio portaudio pandoc limesuite
3. git clone https://github.com/AlexandreRouma/SDRPlusPlus.git
4. cd SDRPlusPlus
5. mkdir -p build
6. cd build
7. cmake .. -DOPT_OVERRIDE_STD_FILESYSTEM=ON
8. make
9. sudo make install

Now you can start SDRpp via "sdrpp" on command line.

I'm kind of a radio enthusiast and trying to use SDRPlusPlus on High Sierra as well, but I find 3 obstacles:

1. When git clone etc
   Xcode wasn't installed

2. Perhaps I don't fully understand the cd SDRPlusPlus command, since there are no de facto SDRPlusPlus folders (except perhaps on the MacPorts subfolder); so I cd (mac location of that SDRPlusPlus from MacPorts).

To which, when I
cmake .. -DOPT_OVERRIDE_STD_FILESYSTEM=ON

receive and error in red on the Terminal:

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:7:
Parse error. Expected a command name, got unquoted argument with text
"<!DOCTYPE".

-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

3. And last but not least, I can't seem to find the sdrpp app by itself (maybe I'm not navigating correctly on the Terminal), and I do wonder if perh-apps (xD) I need to type on Terminal:
   open sdrpp.app

I have to give you all the applause. Making an app is hard as hell. I knew it was hard but boy oh boy you lads and gals are really knowledgable people.

Hi Nikilux,

1. You need Xcode package installed on your HighSierra to have cmake available (check inet for latest version supported on HS)
2. After a GIT CLONE in terminal, GIT will create a subfolder in the directory there you have run it. I always do git clone from the Downloads folder on my mac in Terminal. See also my posted command output above.
3. MACports has a SDRpp package available also, BUT this is not compatible with High Sierra yet (i dont know why).
   If you played around with macports version, i suggest to uninstall , clean this before compile it from source by yourself.

Hope this helps. I tested SDRpp v1.05 just now and it run!

Thank you so much for guiding me through. I'm almost about to be able to build and open the application, thanks to you kind post.
I was doing the building wrong all along. Now that I did it step by step, I got until the cmake part, but it says it didn't find the PkgConfig (missing: PKG_CONFIG_EXECUTABLE).

Here's the log on Terminal (code ends just before the (code ends here) that I added:

looks like on your OS executable pgk-config is missing or not correctly installed. If you have installed MACPORTS try
"sudo port install pkgconfig" and test compiling from source SDRpp again.

Are you successfully using your SDRplay device under MACos with other Software? I dont know if it make sense to share my compiled SDRpp command binary (17kb). Give me your email and i send it to you.

Sharing binaries will almost certainly not work (not on OSX at least)
You have to use to specially compile a bundle. Don't have much time atm to explain how it's done so check the github CI script .github/workflows/build_all.yml.
I'd suggest creating a second build directory named something other than "build" to compile with the specific options needed.
Afterwards you use the make_macos_bundle.sh [build_dir] [bundle_folder_name] to generate a .app that you can then zip up and send here

Strange that now a package is missing because you was able to build SDRpp once before. The error regarding fftw3f means that this dependency is not installed or found anymore. I suggest to install all dependencies via MACPORTS. In this case try on TERMINAL cli: "sudo port install fftw-3"

If it was installed and something is wrong now, try:
"sudo port uninstall fftw-3"
"sudo port clean fftw-3"
"sudo port install fftw-3"

i build a package bundle as described by Alexandre on my MAC with HighSierra. Normally i prefer application sharing as DMG package (i searched for weeks on net but found nothing). Give it a try on yours. MAke sure you have installed all dependencies for SDRpp via MACPORTS, then unpack ZIP and install the attached package.

you're supposed to put the build directory as the first argument, not the SDRPlusPlus directory.
I'd also set SDR++.app as the second argument so that it shows up properly when installed

I startet the bundle and IT WORKS for me. Now i have SDR++ under programs available with icon!! Yeah

Same ones as linux but it needs an additional argument to tell it to build for bundling and then you have to run the bundling script. Check the CI scripts for how that last part is done.

I've tried to download the app from this post and indeed I manage to get the icon but when I open it it doesn't open any program.
