We want to keep the detail, but we also want people to be able to get quick advice.
I think the best way to do this might be to include a list of the most important points. At the end of the advice section. Alternatively, we can provide the "quick" advice in addition to a "ask for even more advice" button.
Another, related change I've been thinking about is moving more content into the wiki. So when you click "ask for advice" in-game, perhaps it should open a wiki page in a new tab instead of displaying in-game. Thoughts?
What if we have a robot on-board that gives advice? That way it's not just reading text and we could easily implement a tl;dr option for everything. Maybe even a tl;dr mode. If @jharrisonmusic is still around this becomes that much more doable. Of course we'd be cheesy and make it's name an acronym like A.D.V.I.C.E. so it's obvious.
I think the wiki link is a good idea even if we have the robot.
The Autonomous Driver-Virtual Interface Computer Entity (ADVICE) is a standard artificial intelligence included in all modern craft. If you have a question or need help, just ask ADVICE.
Or... Artificial Data Volume Intelligence Computer Entity (ADVICE)
Clickable links in game that lead to the wiki article about the relevant topic would be a nice feature (and relatively easy to do). Gameplay elements that are explained with in-game tutorials would tend to reduce user frustration but the in-game tutorial code could be unwieldy. Be sure to explain clearly (and with pictures!) simple things like the relationship between ship total mass (I think?) and fuel consumption rate. Another issue would be to clearly explain the meaning behind the health bar that seemingly drops for no reason and the food consumption rate. You could cover those by having a programmed reduction event with a pop-over to explain what happened. You could substitute a YouTube video series about the game where you explain each feature in light detail for some of the in-game tutorial features (think of your video more of a long trailer). This would also have the effect of drawing more players / interest.
You have a lot of excellent features here but the game will need some polish to bring harmony to those elements before you should consider adding more features.
