Updates from last week ✔

• Checked PyData theme-related big PRs.
• Nice meeting with @choldgraf, lovely monthly meeting with the team, and useful sprint meeting with the team
• Admin stuff
• Revisited kops status quo and historical changes in our AWS clusters
• Get openscapes cluster/hub ready for this week event: [EVENT] OpenScapes NASA Cloud Hackathon infrastructure#810
  • Coordinated with @GeorgianaElena about deploying support on the cluster: Deploy support chart for the openscapes hub infrastructure#827
  • Fixed bug with shared directory ownership and enable w+r on it: Fix shared directory ownership and enable w+r on it infrastructure#832

Challenges I faced and things I'd like assistance with 🙏

• We had a hard time trying to make the support chart work on existing kops deployments
  • We decided to go without it for the event.
• We had a hard time trying to update the cluster to support more attendees
  • The state store had some discrepancies with the deployment but, most importantly, the plan to update the cluster was touching Kube internals and it was too risky to do it on Sunday before the event.
• We had to go with a sort of manual fix using ASG through the AWS Console to go beyond the 20 max nodes.
  • This also allowed us to pre-warm the nodes
• Sunday was a very long day...

My availability for next week

• Tuesday (tomorrow) late afternoon/evening ARG time AFK because of orthodontic surgery
• Probably taking Friday off because I feel really tired (on Saturday drove 10 hours and Sunday, you already know...)
• Next Monday 22nd is a holiday in ARG.

• I updated a bunch of our documentation after a few incident and event debriefs from last week
• I got some feedback about the alpha service document (Alpha service offering description and rationale #262) and met with CS&S about it

• I worked towards deliverable: Enable authentication via CILogon infrastructure#315
• Got access to the openscapes hub and tried deploying grafana dashboards to it (no success though :()
• Started paying more attention to freshdesk (so far, so good thanks to @2i2c-org/tech-team)

Challenges I faced and things I'd like assistance with 🙏

• Last week was a first for me: I had meetings in 4 out of the 5 days 😅

• Celebrating my mother's birthday on Friday so I'll drive to the city to buy her a surprise cake (luckily she's not on GitHub to find out about my plan :D )

Updates from last week ✔

• I've not been so productive. I got a bit overwhelmed by the net amount of things and had to put on some brakes to get back in control.
• I got myself two physical whiteboards in A4 formats. One at the computer for work items, and one in the kitchen for personal items. I can absolutely recommended this practice as I find it to have optimize the efficiency of my neural network I have installed behind my eyes and it provides an ease of mind to have tasks it clearly overviewed.
• I've done misc maintenance across the jupyterhub ecosystem mainly.
