This is a @2i2c-org/tech-team sync 🎉🎉🎉! This is a way for 2i2c Team Members to triage work, point out issues that require attention, and make sure we are working well as a team. This issue will be closed at the end of the day.

My availability for next week

  • I should be around usual hours this week with the exception of Thursday. I'm speaking on a D&I panel at SciPy 2021 (chaired by @willingc) and it's at 10pm my time, so I'm going to try and sleep in on that morning! (Max allowing 😼)
  • I'm also doing some reviews for the Hidden REF, but I'll sprinkle those throughout the week

  • Thanks to all of you for bearing with me while I had a chaotic week traveling to Europe 😆
  • Thanks to the @2i2c-org/tech-team for having our first monthly team meeting :-)

Updates from last week ✔

  • After our team meeting I wrote up our notes, and updated some more of the team process issues we are working on
  • The rest of the week was sucked into traveling to France - it turns out that this is much more difficult with a 10 month baby haha.

What I'm up to next ⬜ <-- @sgibson91 I think I imagined it like an un-checked to-do checkbox haha, maybe something like ➡️ would be better? WDYT?

  • This week I am on pretty reduced time because I'm in the mountains with family, so not planning a ton
  • That said, I'll keep an eye on email/Slack in case I can be helpful, in particular if our move to CSS gets finalized I want to push this forward quickly.

  • See above! I'll be heavily reduced time this week.

@choldgraf, I see "[Hub] - Geospatial workshop in Ghana" duplicated in the first post... do you know why? Maybe we are not getting rid of the dupes in the automation somehow?

  • Thanks @choldgraf (again) for your continuous help on admin-related stuff.

Updates from last week ✔

  • Endless 🤦 work in some administrative issues...
  • Helping EBP folks a little bit with GitHub actions and some Anaconda pain.
  • Looked into (and learn more about) Terraform workspace stuff (thanks to @sgibson91's Pangeo-related work).
  • Having fun understanding the myst parser implementation and the underlying markdown-it-py machinery: Implement a MyST parser for Nikola upstream#14 (comment)

**What I'm up to next ➡️ **

  • I will continue my focus on the Myst stuff, particularly learning about markdown-it-py plugins.
  • I will continue pushing on the admin stuff...
  • Catching up on issues and PRs to unblock others.

My availability for next week

  • Old usual availability > New usual availability
    • My split working schedule experiment (working morning + big break + working late afternoon/evening) to maximize my overlapping did not work as expected. The big break was never actually a "break" because I was frequently working on stuff or thinking about stuff, so I will go back to a standard (close to EST) schedule so I have a sane break in the evening...

  • I wrote a bunch of documentation
  • I wrote and deployed python-popularity-contest, a way to collect pre-aggregated, privacy-friendly data on which libraries are used most by users on a hub
  • Did more code review in the broader JupyterHub ecosystem - kubespawner, binderhub, repo2docker.

What I'm up to next ⬜

  • I'll probably take tuesday and thursday to do UC Berkeley stuff

@yuvipanda I'm very happy to help with Azure things! I've been working towards moving the backend of my "Deploy a BinderHub to Azure" button to terraform (though it gets pushed down the todo list by other things!) https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/binderhub-deploy/pulls?q=is%3Apr+is%3Aopen+terraform
